The AWOL folks have now established a good way of working for the AWOL Online workshop, so it’ll be running every week throughout lockdown. The details are as follows:
Join using this link.
Virtual room opens at 18h00.
If it’s your first time and you want to submit your written prose or poetry for feedback please arrive no later than 18h15. Preferred file format is PDF.
After lockdown we’ll hopefully return to normal – as described below:
The AWOL writers’ group is currently running every Sunday evening 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Chat Noir, 76 rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, 75011. Time may vary – check AWOL’s facebook page.
Relaunched in 2017 as AWOL Writers’ Group this has been running continuously as a drop-in feedback workshop since begun as The Other Writers’ Group by David Barnes in 2005.
It’s a very down-to-earth, unpretentious and welcoming place to get some serious feedback on your work or listen and join in the discussion of other people’s poems, stories, etc.
These folk are not messing about, they really care that we all support each other to learn the craft, keep writing, and grow as writers.
If you want feedback then bring 10 copies of your poem or of up to 4 pages of prose.
- Watch Jame DiBiasio’s interview with hosts of the writers’ group here.
- Read an article on the writers’ group in Expatriates Magazine.
The workshop is run by Bruce Sherfield, Simon Millward, Thibaut Narme and Camille Adnot. Formerly known as The Other Writers’ Group and run by David Barnes and then David and Bruce together.
The workshop is free!
