Monday 11: Spoken Word Paris goes squatting…

Cat & HatLike every other Monday during the summer Spoken Word Paris goes flaneuring and exploring the City. For Monday 11 we decided to accept the invitation by our old-young friend and fellow performer HLN (you might remember her French Impro Poems) to her squat in VilleJuif-Aragon. Being a squat and very informal place, you are allowed and even invited to bring your own bottles and drinks, but there is also a small bar. Let’s go and discover this underground venue:

6 Rue Jean Prouvé. Metro: Villejuif-Louis Aragon deep down on line 7.

I know for someone might look like a trip into the great unknown, and technically it is, so for the ones who are free early and want to take this trip all together, we can gather and sign up since 7pm into another picturesque place of Paris: Les Arènes Des Lutèce. a Roman amphitheater built during the 1st Century AD. Les Arènes Des Lutèce. Map link at the bottom.

I’ll be there, look for me. (Alberto) We gonna leave around 8pm taking the metro line 7 in place Monge towards the terminus Villejuif – Louis Aragon.

Spoken Word Paris July 21: Paranoia!

Pictures by Steve. This is just a selection. Check the full album here or on his blog.

Spoken Word Paris summer edition! It means every two weeks. July 21: we had Bethany Rose, special guest from London and many other guests for all over the world. It was a fund-rising night for Matthew Lancit’s project “Flaneurs – Street Rambles” and we watch a few clips from it. It was also last Spoken Word Night for Gabriel, Lucy and Beatrice. But come next Monday for a flaneur’s wandering Goodbye party where you can hug them one more time. Spoken Word Paris in its original formula comes back in two weeks, on August 4th. Theme: NIGHTMARES!

What’s this for?

What’s this for? This SpokenWord? this space? this crowd? these listeners? What?
For a safe space to speak
held so by how we are
A place to say my truth, your truth
try to work out a bit of life lived
& get at what it’s about
A place to be vulnerable
A safe place

No goal beyond this.
No rat race here.
Rats! Seek elsewhere!
No suck-cess
here its pull is stilled
Here is for the deeper meeting
with no reason
but to be

What’s this for?
What’s SpokenWord for?
It’s for something bigger than chasing fame or money
It’s for a moment of listening to the echoes of your deepest living
in the words of someone else
shared at risk

What’s this for?
It’s not about money
it’s more important than that
And though we all have only 5 minutes
we’re off the clock
in this safe space

Photo report from SpokenWord of 21.7.2014 – Paranoia

paranoiaThanks to Steve Nahaj for the photos. Full album here. Paranoia? Marie Baby’s not paranoid. We got in touch with our inner White Bitch with our guest Bethany Rose’s electrifying poem about teaching in inner London. Watched extracts of Matthew Lancit’s upcoming film Flâneurs – Street Rambles. And much more. See you Monday for SpokenWord goes Walkabout… or, Goodbye Gabriel, Lucy and Beatrice. Cheers all, David.

SpokenWord goes Walkabout… or Goodbye Gabriel, Lucy & Beatrice

A SpokenWord truly in the spirit of the flaneur!

flaneur

We’ll meet at the Chat-Noir at 8pm Monday (28th July) as usual. Then we’ll go on a pub crawl stopping at bars to do poetry slots, stories, stand-up, songs, etc as usual. This will either be in the bars or on the street, in squares, beside the canal, etc. We’ll have a mini-amp and microphone. We’ll do it in open spaces and we’ll probably head to the canal.
If it rains, we’ll stay in the Chat Noir.
So – weather permitting, this will be a SpokenWord on the move and pub crawl. Theme: double theme!! We invite you to do stuff on the themes of GOODBYE or THE FLANEUR. (As usual, themes are meant to inspire, only follow them fi you feel like it.)

Meet at the Chat Noir at pm as usual and we’ll go from there, probably setting off about 8.45pm

Sounds fun, doesn’t it?

If you can’t find us, didn’t make it to the Chat before we left, sms or call Gabriel and he’ll tell you where we are as we roam around Paris.
Gabriel Gorman 06 42 70 68 45

Cheers all,
David & Alberto

Start at Au Chat Noir:
76 rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, 75011 metro Parmentier/Couronnes

They’re really good. Watch, share, make a donation if you can support the project – every donation this week gets a poem from Alberto!! Don’t miss David Sirois’ video that will be posted tomorrow.
